The role of a Learning Support teacher is a difficult, yet fulfilling opportunity to serve both staff and students in a school. It is apparent from the instruction in my courses that the position is as important for building teacher capacity and self-efficacy as it is for guiding and supporting students. When given an opportunity to work with students directly and brainstorm solutions, I feel as if I am well suited for this position. With my background as a classroom teacher with low and non-existent supports, I am able to think outside of the box to support students to do their very best. Regarding Level B testing, I have administered and scored the KTEA-3, WIAT, and KEY Math, among other curriculum based measurements. I worked in a Inclusion Support Teacher role in the Saanich school district between 2021 and 2023.
